Hi there everyone! This is the Electric Grandmother. I'm currently stationed in Columbus, Ohio, making music
for all the world to hear.
I am the co-inventor of what I call "SITCOM-CORE," a genre of music typically defined
by lyrical content revolving around TV sitcoms. The other inventors are Mike Markowski and Gary Schad; Mike and I concocted
a low-fi group in 1996 known as The Doldrums, with Gary joining us following our first recording. Strangely
enough, most of our recordings usually came from any combination of two of us making music, and then throwing together
our efforts on tape as a trio. We spread our magic through Solon, Ohio as much as we could through now legendary crude
cassette tapes recorded through a boombox. Our peak was our beginning, and although the final album came in 2001, subsequent
recordings after 1996 lacked the luster and spirit of the initial efforts, although still worthwhile in my opinion.
The Doldrums are no more, but influence of the group lives on--with where and who I don't know, but it's there.
I started The Electric Grandmother in 1999 while living in Hawaii. My intent was to make low-fi/sitcom-core in the
same vein of The Doldrums. After several crude cassette recordings through a karaoke machine, I switched in 2002
to an analog 4-track, a gracious gift from my long time friend Stephane. I've released 4 CDs to date, and here I am
in Columbus doing my thing. Thanks for your interest in my thing!
My live show consists of my blubbering antics, along with many blubbering props, and a killer slideshow operated almost
exclusively by my lovely wife Mary Alice (aka Foxy Girl). Hope to see you on there on the front line!
Love,
EG
